New biogas reactor at IMA Poland - an investment in green energy and energy independence
IMA Polska is continuing to modernise its production facility with a focus on the development of closed-loop green energy. A new biogas reactor of impressive size has just been erected on the company's premises, which will allow the company to increase its production of renewable energy and make it independent of rising gas and electricity prices.
Giant biogas reactor - the heart of a new development
The newly installed biogas reactor is distinguished by its impressive capacity, comparable to a six-lane Olympic-sized swimming pool. This means the ability to process huge quantities of organic substrates, which are converted into biogas through anaerobic digestion. This type of plant is a key component of a closed-loop economy, allowing the efficient use of by-products from the production of bioethanol.
Spectacular assembly operation
The foundation of the reactor required the use of specialised equipment with extraordinary parameters. A crane with a lifting capacity of as much as 500 tonnes was used to lift and position the vessel. An assembly operation of this nature requires precise planning, suitable weather conditions and an experienced team of specialists. The scale of the project demonstrates how serious IMA Polska's investments in sustainability are.
Biogas as part of the energy strategy of IMA Polska
Biogas production is part of the company's long-term energy strategy. The biogas produced during the fermentation process can be used to produce electricity and heat, which significantly reduces the plant's operating costs. In view of the rapidly rising prices of energy carriers on European markets, the company's own source of green energy is an important competitive advantage.
IMA Poland has been consistently developing a closed loop economy model for years. By-products from bioethanol production, such as distillery decoctions, provide an excellent substrate for biogas production. In this way, the company maximises the use of raw materials and minimises waste, while generating additional value in the form of renewable energy.
Environmental and economic benefits of the investment
The development of a biogas plant has tangible benefits for both the environment and the economics of the company. From an environmental perspective, biogas production reduces greenhouse gas emissions by replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy. Methane, which would end up in the atmosphere in the event of uncontrolled decomposition of organic matter, is captured and used as fuel.
From an economic point of view, the investment in the biogas reactor ensures the stabilisation of energy costs in the long term. Independence from external gas and electricity suppliers protects the company from price fluctuations on the energy markets, which have been particularly unpredictable in recent years.
IMA Poland is a leader in sustainable production
The ongoing investment confirms IMA Poland's position as a leader in sustainable industrial production in Poland. The company combines modern technologies with a responsible approach to the environment, showing that ecology and economy can go hand in hand. More information about the company's activities and its approach to sustainable development can be found in the about us.
The modernisation of the plant is another step in the implementation of IMA Poland's ambitious environmental goals. The company is systematically investing in technologies to reduce its carbon footprint and increase the energy efficiency of its production processes.
