Educational visit to IMA Poland - pupils from Konin learnt about the practice of excise and tax warehouse
Pupils of the economic technical school from Konin visited the IMA Polska plant as part of educational visits
On Friday, the company IMA Polska S.A. hosted third-year students from the Stefan Batory College Complex in Konin. Pupils of the economic technical school with a specialisation in customs and tax administration had the opportunity to see what processes look like in practice, which they have so far learnt only in theoretical classes. The educational visit to IMA Polska included a tour of the production plant, laboratory, bottling plant, and learning about excise duty and tax warehouse issues in a real working environment.
Guided tour of the production facility by the president
The pupils were shown around the production facility by the president, Jakub Ima. During the tour, he discussed the various stages of the production process and explained how the company's daily operations work. The pupils saw the plant from the inside - from the successive stages of the technological process, through the work of the laboratory to the operation of the bottling plant.
Part of the visit was also to learn about the activities of the Wielkopolska Vodka Manufactory. Students learned how liquors are made from seasonal fruit in the traditional way. This practical look at liquor production allowed them to better understand the specifics of the industry, in which both technology and excise regulations play a key role.
Excise, tax warehouse and banding in practice
Particularly much time was devoted to issues directly related to the future career path of the students. Krzysztof Ima, managing director and chief technologist, discussed the practical aspects of the following topics:
- Excise duty - rules for calculating and accounting for excise duty in an operating company
- Tax warehouse - operation of a tax warehouse under actual production conditions
- Banding - the process of marking products with excise stamps
- Excise duty suspension procedure - Practical application of the procedure in day-to-day business
For students of customs and tax administration, these issues are the foundation of their future careers. The opportunity to see how they function in practice is a valuable complement to the knowledge gained at school.
Why educational visits to production facilities matter
Practice effectively complements theory. Visits to actual production facilities allow pupils to see processes that only exist in the form of definitions and diagrams in lessons. In the case of such specialised topics as excise or tax composition, direct contact with a functioning enterprise provides knowledge that cannot be replaced by a textbook.
Participants in the visit emphasised that the opportunity to see and hear explanations directly at the place where these processes take place significantly facilitates the understanding of the issues discussed. This kind of experience builds real competences and prepares one to enter the labour market.
IMA Poland - openness to cooperation with educational institutions
IMA Polska S.A. regularly engages in cooperation with educational institutions. The company makes its production facility available for study visits, sharing practical knowledge of production, technology and excise regulations. Such initiatives are part of the company's strategy of combining its production activities with responsibility towards the local environment.
The IMA Poland plant is active in alcohol production, including liqueurs made using traditional methods, and bioethanol. The company operates as a tax warehouse, which means that it applies excise procedures on a daily basis, which students from Konin have so far only learnt about in theory.
